This is the first book that I read in the Dr Brian Weiss series on past lives. It felt like the right place to start as it tells the story of how Brian Weiss came to develop his past life regression process. At the time of the story he was a successful psychiatrist with his own practise in Miami, Florida.
As a medical person and from a Jewish background, Brian was sceptical about reincarnation and past lives. Yet 18 months into treating a young patient for recurring nightmares and anxiety, all traditional therapy methods were failing so Brian turned to hypnosis. He was astonished that under hypnosis this patient began to recall past lives and traumas in those lives. These traumas seemed to relate to the problems in her current life.
Brian was sceptical about the true nature of these messages but the patient began to channel messages about Brian’s life that the patient would not have any knowledge of. This began a conversation between Brian and a highly evolved Master about life and death.
This fascinating case dramatically altered the lives of both the patient and Brian Weiss. It took some courage on Brain’s part to go public with this case as it could have threatened his professional life. By now his conviction was so strong on the authenticity of the information that he decided to publish it.
If you are exploring whether reincarnation really exists and what are the implications on your current life, this book is a good read for introducing you to the topic with a real life experience. Easy to read with bite sized chapters makes the book and the topic more digestible. It gives you many concepts to reflect upon.
