Giving & receiving love

Love is such a powerful emotion

Love

Love

Love heals, makes you laugh and generally make life worth living.

Loving is for all, not just your partner, family and friends. Often the most unlovable people are those that gain the most value from your love, be it a smile, a kind word or an offer of help. Receiving love as well as giving love balances the passing of energy. Sometimes it takes practice to receive love. Many are good at giving but do not practice receiving. To be balanced you need to do both.

Dalai Lama on anger

What can anger do to us?

“Like anyone else, I too have anger in me. However, I try to recall that anger is a destructive emotion. I remind myself that scientists now say that anger is bad for our health; it eats into our immune system. So, anger destroys our peace of mind and our physical health. We shouldn’t welcome it or think of it as natural or as a friend.”    Dalai Lama

Exploring sound as an energy

Chanting meditation: is sound an energy that can be used to increase our connection to the ‘inner you’, our families, our communities, the universe?

The material world is made up of matter which breaks down to atoms and protons. Protons are light and the ultimate energy source. Sound and the vibrations it makes are also energy. Therefore can sound as a form of energy influence people and the environment in which it operates?

Eyes: are they the windows to our souls?

You can see our emotions in our eyes

eyes

Others can feel our emotions like love, anger, honesty. They can also see it in our eyes. People in love typically look directly into each others eyes. It’s a very intimate gesture. Eyes reveal so much about ourselves.

When you want to know if a person is telling the truth, look into their eyes as they speak. You will be able to see the answer. A person’s eyes are very revealing.

Science now shows that the colour and patterns in our eyes directly relate to our personal characteristics like compassion. It’s interesting that science is catching up with what we have always known intuitively. read more

Are we connected to one another?

Can someone else read your emotions?

20th century man was adamant that each person was an island and we lived our lives in separateness. The 21st century has started to challenge this idea. Think what it’s like to be in a room with a person who is angry or disapproving of you. You can feel their anger without them even saying a word.

Human potential: where is it taking us?

The poppy is a picture of human potential.  It is a delicate and beautiful flower that freely grows wild in our countryside.  Yet it is also a symbol of World War I and the fear, destruction and death that came with war.  An object of beauty and potential, a poppy can give remedies and relief for the chronic pain associated with diseases like arthritis.  Yet when abused fuels the heroine drug trade which plagues parts of our society.
