Our Changing World: Contribute to it being a calmner place

2017 has brought in lots of change for all of us.  On the world stage political leaders are changing, Brexit is being progressed, even Mother Earth is feeling change.  There is much debate on whether there is climate change in process but it is a fact that glaciers and the artic ice is melting.  So something is changing.

As individuals we may not be able to influence events on the world stage.  However our reaction to these events is affected by our state of being.

  • If we are in an anxious state, our reaction often brings feelings of insecurity, anger and fear.
  • If we are calm within ourselves, we will acknowledge the event has happened but may wish to send thoughts of calmness to the situation and the individuals involved.

When we look after our own wellbeing, it affects the wellbeing of those around us.  If you are a parent, think of a time when you have been worrying about something.  Often the behavior of your children seemed to be more difficult at that time.  The ‘inner you’ was out of balance and it affected your children.  Conversely if your state of being is one of calmness, this will influence those around you, friends, loved ones, colleagues and even your neighbours.

Listen to the needs of your ‘inner you’ and ensure you nourish it sufficiently to achieve a calmness that brings a feeling of peace.  If you practice meditation, a few minutes every day has real benefit.  Looking after you may mean you ensure you get a lunch break no matter how short.  A walk in a park to be close to nature also brings calmness.  Just being on your own for 10 minutes in a hectic day can have a significant effect.

Listen to your ‘inner you’ and create your own calmness to contribute to our troubled world.
