Know yourself faster: 6 effective ways to gain insight into you

Look for re-occurring challenges

Life can be full of challenges.  Re-occurring challenge are indicative that a life lesson is being learnt.  I had increasingly difficult managers who
expected me to work all times of the day and week.  It was only when I realised that I was not signaling my boundaries and holding to them did this situation improve.  Many challenges are of our own making.

What life lessons are the people in your life learning? – they may be yours too

Sometimes life lessons like listening or not shouting run in families.  What do you find most irritating about your parents?  Are you like them?  Perhaps there is a lesson there for you too.

Listen to your ‘inner you’

Some call your ‘inner you’ your sub-conscious, higher self, or soul depending on your beliefs.  I like to call it my ‘inner you’ as we have chatted for as long as I can remember and we feel very familiar.  Your ‘inner you’ talks to you in many different ways such as through feelings, knowing, words in a song on the radio or on a bill board.  As you strengthen your communication you will get to know what works for both of you.

Your ‘inner you’ will always have your best interest at heart and can provide good guidance in your life.  These are the clear thoughts that happen in moments of calm.  Learn to trust the messages they bring.

Just STOP for a moment and feel what is important to you

In the 21st century everyone is always connected via phones, tablets etc and rushing about to a hectic schedule.  STOP and for a few moments listen to your ‘inner you’ and feel what is right for you at this time in your life.  It may just be a refreshing few moments of calmness to make the rest of you day more productive.  Enjoy those moments…

Build a soul map and reflect on it

Want to build your personal calmness and wisdom?  Consider investing your time in building a soul map which is a geometric picture that represents you and your life.  As you construct it you gain insight into who you are and where you are going.  The picture reminds you of this information and you can reflect on it to re-experience the calmness you felt when you coloured it.  When I was in a corporate job I used to keep my soul map on my desk and at moments of stress flicker my eyes across it to feel the calmness.  It helped me to cope with my often chaotic days.

Ask your ‘inner you’ a question

Your ‘inner you’ is your best friend.  Do not be afraid to ask a question about your life or a situation you are in.  Just keep the question simple to aid clarity.  Your ‘inner you’ might not give you the answer you desire, but it will always be an honest answer and the one you need to hear for where you are in your life.
