All of us have someone or something that challenges us in our life. We came into a life to learn and these challenges are meant to stretch us and help us to learn. Life is full of ups and downs. But it is always important to remember life is a gift for living and enjoying.
Sometimes the stetch for a learning can feel excessive to the point where you can feel quite down. We have all been there, such as parental disapproval, a lover walking away, a job lost or a sick child. But the key question is;
How do you pick yourself up and get back into the flow of life and experiencing joy?
The simple answer is little step by little step. When you are in a difficult place, big change is not easy or usually successful. So be kind to yourself and make small changes in your life that make it feel better to you. It doesn’t need to cost money and often includes allowing yourself to enjoy small pleasures like going for a walk, making something good to eat, a long bath or time to read or pursue a hobby. People often under rate the value of these small things to how you feel about your life. Without them…
Life feels like work, work and yet more work.
These small pleasures bring balance to your life. They help you to relax and remember the child within you that is full of curiosity and fun. When you let that child out, you laugh, have fun and feel good. If the child is neglected or forgotten, life feels like all work and no play. As the saying goes it makes Jack a dull boy.
A common excuse for no fun is:
My partner doesn’t understand me anymore.
When did the fun stop in your relationship? But more importantly why did you go along with it? Life can be busy amongst the normal challenges of putting a roof over your head, having food and clothing, such as raising a family, caring for older family members etc etc etc. The list can be endless – if you allow it to be. But where does ‘Me’ come in that list?
Remember you are the most important person in your life.
Do remember, no-one wants you to be unhappy and have no fun, least of all your own soul. We all have one and it looks after you throughout your life. When you are down, consulting your intuition and asking for advice will always bring pragmatic and sensible answers. The advice may not be fully formed and may only arrive as a desire to do something good for yourself, but it will be worthwhile.
You would be wise to listen to that feeling inside on what you would love to do.
Good communication with yourself it key to a joyful life. Too many of us listen to that critical voice inside. You can’t do that until you have done this….
Remember:
Doing a little of what you like does you a whole lot of good.
