September: time for change and new resolutions

September is fast approaching. It is always a time of year that feels like new beginnings to me.

In the UK, the children are returning to school for the start of a new academic year. Parents are busy sorting new uniform and heaving a sigh of relief that they have got through the long summer holiday. I can remember looking forward to the structure the school routine brought back to our lives. Of course my children would probably not have agreed with me.

The summer is drawing to a close and some days you can feel autumn approaching (not today it’s 32 degrees in London!).

My tomatoes have gone mad growing in all directions. I lost control of their development while I was away in France and did not have the heart to cut them back. I decided to go for a bumper crop of small tomatoes. Already many of them have ripened along with many other crops in gardens and fields across the country. Harvest festival is approaching….

A new season, a new term, September often brings new jobs and many other changes into our lives. Although it is many years since I went to school, September continues to feel like new beginnings to me. Each year I try to make a new resolution for my life.

This year for my new resolution, I have decided to explore crystal skulls, what they are, how to choose one and how to look after it and work with it.

Personally I have never been overly comfortable with crystal skulls. I do not know where this fear has come from, childhood stories of pirates or an ancient memory from former civilisations. To look beyond these feelings, I bought a book called Crystal Skulls by crystal expert, Judy Hall. I have listened to her lectures in London and know her knowledge is good. Book review here.

This book allayed my fears and peeked my curiosity. So much so that I have bought my own skull and am now a proud skull keeper, well one in training.

I want to enhance my healing skills and I set the intention for a skull to come into my life to join me in my endeavours. I was giving a workshop at a Psychic fair this weekend and this skull was there grinning up at me.

Here is my beautiful Rose Quartz skull. I had to give you a bigger picture than normal as, in my view, it is good to see the detail. the reason I chose him is because he is not perfect. He has a number of chips and his face is not symmetrical. Like many of us his face tells a story and I love him for it.

Rose Quartz brings unconditional love and understanding and is the perfect home for a healing guide. It is attuned to the heart chakra and the soul. Rose Quartz is the finest healer.

Recognize that change is a natural part of life. In the 21st century, the rate of change is increasing in almost every facet of our lives. Instead of fearing it, view it as an opportunity for growth. Embracing change can open up new possibilities and help you break free from routines that no longer serve you.

Explore New Interests and Passions

Whatever and whoever pleased you twenty years ago, may no longer be right for you now. Try considering the following approaches.

  1. Lifelong Learning:

Engaging in new educational opportunities can ignite your curiosity and passion. Whether it’s taking a class, learning a new skill, or pursuing a hobby, lifelong learning can bring a renewed sense of purpose and excitement to your life.

  1. Creative Pursuits:

Exploring creative activities like painting, writing, or music can be incredibly fulfiling. These pursuits provide an outlet for self-expression and can help you discover hidden talents and passions you didn’t know you had.

  1. Volunteering:

Giving back to your community through volunteering can bring a deep sense of purpose. We saw lots of this during Covid with the help given to the frailer people in our neighbourhoods. Helping others not only makes a positive impact, but also provides a sense of connection and fulfillment.

Focus on Relationships
  1. Strengthen Connections:

Your life is very much about the relationships you have in it. Midlife is an ideal time to nurture and strengthen your relationships with family and friends. Deepening these connections can provide emotional support and a sense of belonging.

  1. Mentorship:

Sharing your knowledge and experiences with others, particularly younger generations, can be incredibly rewarding. Mentorship allows you to leave a lasting legacy and positively influence others’ lives.

Set New Goals
  1. Re-evaluate Priorities:

Life is forever changing. As you reach midlife, it’s essential to reassess your priorities. Consider what truly matters to you and set new goals that align with your values and aspirations.

  1. Personal Development:

Focus on personal growth and self-improvement. Setting goals related to fitness, mental health, or spiritual growth can bring a renewed sense of purpose and vitality.

  1. Career Transformation:

Midlife can be an opportune time to explore new career paths or make significant changes in your professional life. Pursuing a passion-driven career or starting your own business can be incredibly fulfilling.

I can really recommend this. I gave up my corporate IT role at fifty-nine and became a professional psychic medium. My life could not be more different. But the change brought in lots of new energy and purpose. I have broadened out since then to include many other capabilities, but I have now found what I will do until the day I die, spiritual teaching.

 

Midlife is not the end but a new beginning. I feel, it is a pivotal point in your life where you make decisions which can re-shape the second half of your life. It offers a unique opportunity to;

Reassess, redefine, and rediscover your purpose

By embracing change, exploring new interests, focusing on relationships, setting new goals, and prioritizing well-being, you can find a renewed sense of purpose that brings joy and fulfilment to your life. With people living longer, it is in your interest to set-up the second half of your life to be what you want it to be.

Do I get guidance through my dreams?

Dreams have fascinated humanity for centuries. Everyone dreams but you may or may not remember them. Or perhaps you remember a fragment of a dream. They create a bridge between your inner and outer worlds. Many believe that dreams are not just random images but meaningful messages of love and guidance from your soul.

Understanding your dreams can offer profound insights from your inner world, guiding you on your life journey.

Dreams can be vivid or vague, joyful or terrifying, linear or chaotic, fantastic or ordinary. Despite their varied nature, dreams often carry symbols to guide you in your life or to give you an alert to a possible danger ahead.

How is your soul trying to speak to you in your dreams?

Your soul will use many approaches to communicating with you. Your soul is your oldest and deepest friend knowing every aspect of you. Here are some of the things you should be alert to in your dreams to aid understanding them.

How do you feel when you wake up?

Emotions you experience in dreams are significant. Waking feeling curious may mean there is something from your dream you need to research and explore further. If you frequently feel anxious in dreams, it could be a sign that your soul is urging you to address anxiety-inducing aspects of your life. Dreams can bring you happiness in meeting a loved one who has passed. Every human emotion can be experienced in dreams.

Symbolic Dreams

Dreams are rarely communicated in a straightforward way. Instead, they use symbols that require interpretation. Examples can include; water symbolising emotions, a house could represent yourself, and a journey might reflect personal growth. Paying attention to recurring symbols can help you decode the messages your soul is sending. A repeated dream can often mean there is a message your soul is trying to give you, but you have not understood it yet.

What guidance and clarity are your dreams bringing you?

Dreams can provide guidance and clarity on issues that perplex you. They might offer solutions to problems, reveal new perspectives, or confirm gut feelings. When you have a problem, many people like to sleep on it before they take any actions.

A dream about a crossroads, for example, could symbolize a critical decision you need to make. Dreams can sometimes predict potential futures and alert you to avoiding accidents or harm.

Healing Dreams

Your soul uses dreams to facilitate healing. Traumatic experiences or unresolved conflicts often resurface in dreams, giving you a chance to process and heal. The healing dream can be symbolic with you as a wounded animal walking to a blue lake for healing and diving in. Confronting these issues in the dream world can lead to emotional release and closure.

Dream visits from loved ones and spirit guides

These are perhaps my favourite dreams. I always feel very loved in these dreams and a wonderful feeling of being connected to the people most important to me.

These dream visits are a great opportunity to complete unfinished business or sort out misunderstandings with a passed loved one.

Meaningful discussions can be held with spirit guides to help you with an aspect of your life or spiritual development.

How do you improve your dream communications?

  • Keep a Dream Journal, in my experience the more you write a journal in the morning of your dreams, the more dreams you receive. It’s like you are saying you are open to dream communication.
  • Practice Mindfulness and meditation, it seems to improve dream recall, perhaps because you have greater inner calmness.
  • Set Intentions, before you go to sleep write an intention or question in your journal for your dreams. Leave the pen on the open, empty page. Your soul will love giving you something to write in the morning.

By paying attention to your dreams and learning to interpret their meaning, you can tap into a deep source of inner wisdom. Treat your dreams as a dialogue with your soul, and let them guide your path.

If you don’t fully understand a dream, you can re-enter a dream. But that is a whole new story…..

How do you feel about yourself and your life?

When I was growing up, my mum always used to say to me;

People value you at what you value yourself.

At the time I don’t think I truly understood what she meant. But having lived more and experienced other people, I feel there is some truth in what she said.

Ask yourself these questions;

  • Do you express your views and emotions honestly, albeit kindly?
  • Do you take action on how you truly feel?
  • Do you give yourself time and space in your life?
  • Do you look after your own mental health?

If you value yourself in your interactions with others, you are able to feel and speak honestly, know your needs and be able to take actions to satisfy them.

Expressing your views and emotions

Of course it goes without saying, that in sharing your views and emotions it should be with kindness, love and sensitivity to others. If you did it in a way that hurt others or was vulgar and included a lot of swearing, you are not honouring yourself. You may come to regret it. However, being able to speak your truth is very important to feeling a sense of freedom. It should not be ignored and if not done, can make your throat chakra feel uncomfortable and even blocked.

Taking action on how you truly feel

Are you living your own life or one that somebody else wants you to live?

Sometimes fear of doing or saying the wrong thing can stop you from doing what you want to do. This is not about recklessly doing mad things, but rather doing, in a considered way, what feels right for you. You are the most important person in your life. It is right you should get to make the choices for you in your life. Afterall the choices you make today, brings the life you experience tomorrow.

Do you give yourself time and space in your life?

No-one can ‘Go, Go, Go’ all of the time. You need time to pause and reflect on what is going on in your life. Are you leading the life you want? If not, how can you make a course correction to improve it. This pause and reflection take time and space. You may also want time and space to pursue your own interests such as reading or researching a topic that interests you or attend a class, meet a friend. We all need time to just enjoy life.

Life is for living and enjoying.

Looking after your own mental health

Each of us are responsible for the life we lead. Your values, choices and actions lead to the life you experience. Even in the direst of situations, you get to choose how you react to it.

I really admire Viktor Frankl. He expressed in his book, Mans Search for Meaning, how he chose, as an inmate of the extermination camps of World War II, to continue to feel hope for a better life in the future. This single feeling of hope helped him to survive and go on to life a good life. Listening to the negative, angry voice inside would have weakened him. So, he chose to counter it with hope.
