But how do you go about doing this?
21st Century people lead busy lives, there is little space to contemplate and just ‘be’. Meditation helps to calm the noisy chatter of the mind to create the space to just ‘be’ and connect with your ‘Inner You’.
But when I have found my calm space, what do I do with it?
Soul Maps go beyond the meditative state and in that calm space you can ask a question, such as;
“What is the right thing to do next in my life?”
Creating your own Soul Map puts you back in touch with your ‘Inner You’, some call sub-conscious, higher self or soul depending on your life view. It strengthens the communication between you and your ‘Inner You’. Your ‘Inner You’ will assist with your personal development.
Your ‘inner you’ will respond to your questions with wisdom but you need to develop the skills to hear the responses.
But I’m not artistic….
There are 7 Soul Map templates to choose from to base your Soul Map on. You make the template yours by adding the people you are travelling through life with and colouring the picture in whatever colours feel right for you.
Soul Maps have the added benefit of exploring who you really are and the life lessons you are learning. It also allows you to explore who is in your inner circle of friends and family, the relationships you have with them and the lessons they might be learning. Attaining this knowledge brings greater understanding of the challenges individuals are facing and with that more harmony within your family and close friendships.
“What should I be doing next in my life?”. The desire to move forward expressed in this simple but important question can trigger a meaningful journey of self-development and growth.
What people should I add to my Soul Map?
The people in your life who are important to you. We call them your ‘Soul Family’. They can include individuals from your biological, adopted or step family, in-laws, friends, colleagues or even a neighbour.
Your Soul Family provides you with challenges and therefore opportunities to learn. They might also share moments of kindness enabling you to practice receiving. Both situations are opportunities for personal development and growth.
Let’s have a look at some soul maps. Here are some recent examples created by some students at one of my workshops.
Soul Family pictures or Soul Maps are secular in nature but use geometric shapes that are found in many cultures, religions and nations.
Geometry is a universal language that enables you to unlock knowledge contained in your subconscious about the true nature of yourself. Often there are things about yourself that you sort of know but they are not fully apparent to your conscious you. The exercises we do make more explicit these things about yourself.
Your ‘Inner You’ will connect with these pictures and bring relaxation and calmness as you colour.
In that calm space within you, you will find a wisdom you did not know you possessed.
Here are the Soul Maps individuals have given to me to add to our Soul Wall at Your Soul Family. It never ceases to amaze me how different each one is even though they are all based on templates. I believe it shows how no two lives are the same.
