Alison’s Reading List

Books Alison has found useful on her spiritual journey to explore who she truly is

Personally I find reading books tough, but don’t give up. Books can open a whole new world and interest for you as I found out. It takes me considerable time and effort to read a book. Late in life I found out I was dyslexic. In my late teens my late husband was courting me. We used to go every week to the library in his home town of Chertsey, UK. Embarrassingly he used to take out a great stack of books as he was an avid reader. Grudgingly I took out one book and still I often had to renew it for another week. In desperation at trying to spark my interest in books, my husband chose a book for me. It was on reincarnation. I read it in a week and have never looked back. Since then I have read every spiritual book that has come my way. read more

What is Spiritual Development?

What is the Difference between Personal and Spiritual Development?

Personal development: is the conscious pursuit of personal growth by expanding self-awareness and knowledge and improving personal skills.

Spiritual development: relates to fundamental questions about the meaning and purpose of life which affect everyone, and is not dependent on a religious affiliation. Spiritual development is not about becoming more spiritual, it is about realising or becoming more and more aware of one’s natural, innate spirituality. read more

Secrets of understanding yourself

From my earliest years I happily chatted to someone inside of me not knowing who they were. Knowing no difference, I assumed everybody else did too. Many children do the same until they are seven when the practice seems to fade. I was a sickly child and spent much of my time in bed. A simple cold would send me to bed for a week to wait for my immune system to kick in. Bored and a little lonely, I kept my practice of chatting to my internal friend going throughout my growing up and into my adult years. read more

Spiritual development: Dark Night of the Soul

Spiritual development is often a solitary journey. As a psychic medium, I just followed my intuition and let it guide me where I needed to go. However I didn’t always understand what was happening to me.

The Dark Night of the Soul can be particularly dramatic and it can help to understand what is happening to you. I cross referenced literature to try and gain an understanding including;

  • the teachings of the Tibetan channelled by Alice Bailey
  • William Meader’s Shine Forth plus his video lectures giving a simplified version of the Alice Bailey teachings,
  • Michael Newton’s Destiny of Souls
  • Various texts about Kundalini.

People seldom talk about their spiritual development. It is a personal journey with your soul and Spirit. I did wonder what other people were experiencing. I found a lovely writer Patricia Williams who speaks of her experiences and gives words of wisdom on managing your own Dark Night of the Soul. read more

Associates

As the saying goes ‘Variety is the spice of life’.  When you are seeking to understand the world you live in, your place in it and who you are; variety of approach is good.  By trying different approaches you might find that one gives you greater insight than another.  However many people find it difficult to find authentic people who can show them their approach.

I have spent the last 20 years seeking out such people.  Below are people I have either worked with , been their student or their client.  I have found them helpful in my personal development. Of course you need to decide if they are right for you. read more
