Writing for an hour a day is great for your well-being

I went to the London Book Fair this week with our guest author, Menaca Joji. We met some wonderful people; authors, publishers, agents, IngramSparks and Amazon people, marketers and the list goes on…..

All love words, be it written, spoken, digital or in print. However what I found so encouraging was the passion these people felt for their profession and how willing they were to share hints and tips on how to get your work to market. Thank you to everyone who gave us some guidance over the last three days, presenters, masterclass panelists and attendees. All is gratefully received.

Changing career to become an author or doing it in your spare time can be overwhelming.  Many, like me, want to self-publish so they can feel in control of their work and how it is presented. I am from a technical and process led profession, but finding my way through the publication and marketing processes has not been easy. When you finish your manuscript, you think you have done the hard bit but in reality your work has only just begun.

With two books published Creating Your Soul Map and the newly released Finding Your Soul Family, I have learnt the publishing process but I am learning now the marketing skills needed to get my books more widely read. Wish me luck! Here are some pictures of me and my new book. I was luckily enough to get it on the shelves of the Alliance of Independent Authors. I was so excited, rather like a child at Christmas, so I have a big smile on my face.

It is said that everyone has at least one book in them. I believe this is true, but what is more important to me is the therapeutic affect of writing. When things keep running around your head disturbing your peace, just getting them onto paper seems to diminish their power. What a wonderful way to manage your challenges in life. You do not have to write a book to take advantage of the therapy of writing. There is no need to show anyone what you have written. This is writing from the hurt you to the wise you for love and guidance. It can be used for any aspect of your life, issues at work, challenges in a relationship or when you feel sad through a bereavement, not just someone dying but perhaps the loss of a relationship or a job.

This article found its way to me and seemed so relevant, I had to share it with you. I really agree with the author Srinivas Rao Thank you.
